Opis
The album Everyday Life in the Shadow of Terror consists of over 400 photographs, most of which have never been published before. The images presented in the book show the reality of German occupation in Poland. The publication is divided into chapters describing two parallel but very different worlds – the occupants’ and the Polish citizens’, inhabitants’ of towns and villages, Jews’ and underground activists’. The book is complemented by a calendar of war events also illustrated with photographs.
The album not only shows moving pictures of great historical value, but also provides comments in the form of witness accounts, court testimonies and excerpts from journals describing many aspects of the Nazi occupation. The publication is complemented by a selection of items from the collections of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk.
