The author resolves potential tensions between freedom and the developing of connections by writing about practicing freedom “defined as interdependence rather than autonomy”. Ultimately, therefore, those who won recognition thanks to their struggle for emancipation, ought to develop the skill of combining their own separateness with solidarity.
