"Ireland cannot be compared... with any other clime" observed George Bernard Shaw about his native country, and that remains true to this day. The more westerly of the two main British Isles is for many people a place of yearning associated with very fascinating landscapes of intensely green meadows and tranquil lakes, wild coast with steep cliffs and rocks, enchanted sites steeped in Irish lore, mysterious remains of early human settlement, and ruined castles and monasteries with dramatic histories. In addition to the country's impressively varied natural and cultural highlights are of course two exciting and contrasting metropolises: Dublin and Belfast.
The Ireland Book invites you to embark on a fascinating journey through the country, and reveals the endless diversity of the Emerald Isle with brillant color photos and informative texts. Foldout panorama photos also provide spectacular images of selected highlights.
